The summit of Rushmore Tramway is a destination in itself. As you exit the chairlift, you’ll find various viewing decks from which to see panoramic views of Mount Rushmore, the town of Keystone, and the encircling Black Hills scenery. Enhancing the natural beauty of the park area are two waterfalls and thousands of flowers, tucked in among the granite rock formations found throughout. Lawn areas and benches placed in the shade of the towering pines complete the feeling of having arrived at a mountaintop oasis. “So peaceful” is the term our guests most often use.
Graveled walking paths lead to the rustic outdoor café and its adjacent covered dining area; both have spacious decks adorned with hanging flower baskets, and offering tables with the beautiful view of Mt. Rushmore just across the valley. More tables are placed throughout the garden area for a tranquil dining experience. It’s the perfect setting for enjoying a meal, ice cream or a cool drink; it’s also a great location for group or corporate parties, birthday picnics and family reunions. Relax as long as you wish before strolling back to the chairlift deck for the tram ride back down (or for a ride on the exciting alpine slide).
